The Whalehead Beach subdivision is located approximately seven miles north of the Dare/Currituck County line.  The community's wide beaches stretch for more then 3 miles and have 13 public beach access walkways.  The beach accesses are located at the eastern end of the 13 east-west streets in Whalehead.  There are also 3 roads running parallel to the ocean.  Lots range from as large as 35,000 square feet on the oceanfront to 20,000 square feet for interior lots.  There are a total of 840 Lots in the Whalehead Beach Subdivision.  All home sites have private septic systems.  In Summary the Whalehead community is best known for its wide beaches, large lots and proximity to the beach; no home is more then a quarter mile walk to a beach access.  The homes of Whalehead also have excellent rental histories because of the homes large lots and close proximity to the beach
